What's with the beeps in the song 'Paathshala-Be a rebel' from Rang De Basanti? Will someone kindly enlighten? They seem to appear at quite random places. It took me a while to even figure out they were part of the song! They sound exactly like my Tata phone when it's low on charge!!
Other than the beeps, RDB is quite a decent album. Other than the title song, which is Punjabi, AND has Daler Mehndi sing it. Therefore I object to it. It also has Chitra, who sounds screechier than ever. But what a strange combination- Mehndi and Chitra!! Roobaroo, Khoon Chala, Tu Bin Bataye and Luka Chuppi are particularly good. Khalbali and Paathshala are ok. Go listen to it on Raaga. Or buy the CD. Right now.

To tell you the truth, I came to your blog only interested in finding out who the review-pilfering journo was (having glanced at biswanath ghosh's breathless recount in the sunday IE). I wasn't expecting anything more than the usual cantankerous tattleblahg, but having seen your profile and else I only have one thing to ask - will you marry me?

Indulge me - cell-phone alarms that pattern themselves on japanese dirges, tea that tastes like yesterday's dishwater and the insistent smell of wet dogs lingering in the air are not the ingredients of a happy morning. under the circumstances, the only thing that was keeping me moderately sane was the thought of boycotting gautaman bhaskaran. i apologise for any undue liberties taken.
p.s. If keyboards were dolphins and Santa Claus lived in Kottivakkam, would the answer to the ultimate question still be 42?
