I missed Michael Palin's talk. I can't believe it. To think I walk past the bookstore that organised the event on my way to work everyday. To think Palin was five blocks from home and I was blissfully unaware of it. Oh, the tragedy of it all. And I also missed Alan Alda's talk- but they were giving out tickets on a lottery system, and I probably wouldn't have won one anyway. Or so I console myself.

I did, however, manage to go see Russell Peters perform live. I hadn't seen before any of the routines he performed that night- and he picked on K(a friend of D's who'd come along with us)! So Peters starts talking about how men shouldn't pluck their eyebrows, scours the audience, points at K and says "You gay fuck, you do it dontcha?" Sharp eyes, that man has. So yeah, much fun.

Last month was eventful. Went to Cape Cod, got on a jet ski, got scared and got off all in the space of 20 minutes. Went to Buffalo, saw the Niagara falls, and was curiously underwhelmed. Perhaps it was the extreme grotesqueness of the buildings around the falls; or the sewage floating in the river; or the complete and utter touristiness of the place that did it. If it had been sunny, maybe I'd have ignored everything else and let myself be dazzled by the rainbow colours. And also the vast quantities of water. Dunno.

Moved house to the heart of Cambridge (the one in Massachusetts, not to be confused with the one in the UK). I now live within walking distance of a bookstore and a public library. How cool is that?! Did I mention the restaurants? No? Plenty of those too. Civilisation at last. Woohoo!
