Nina - Il tell u what - iam indifferent, numb towards many things - politics, clothes etc. but always feel strongly about most things connected to work.
Its natural that u feel passivity towards everything that goes on - maybe ul feel different when u start work or something

jjtb: Doesn't have to be Tibet(or poverty or pollution). Could be anything, however minor.
the last time i was assertive enough to try and take a stand, or question the Man was when Cornerhouse stopped making thick shakes.
i tried slipping the guy extra cash to make one.
Bobo: Heh. And it didn't work? Speaking of thick shakes, there's this place in Adyar which makes the most heavenly (or used to at least) mango/strawberry thickshake...

though i've been informed that they've made a comeback..or at least something feigning to be TS.
mmm. there isn't any cornerhouse type place in madras, is there? closest is what..cool cats? freez zone? sigh.
speaking of desserts..been to mysore a couple of weeks back for a quiz. there's an Austrian cafe there that serves most heavenly foodstuff.
No cornerhouse type place, as far as I know. The only ice cream place we used to frequent was Lips in Anna Nagar (wonder if it still exists). Madras is more of a fruit juice kind of place, I think. Used to spend an inordinate amount of time at Fruit Shop, back in college.
What I was referring to is this small hole-in-the-wall type place run by a couple of Mallus. Don't remember what it was called. Shakes and Creams makes pretty decent thick shake, as well...
What's an Austrian cafe doing in Mysore? The new French place in madras (inside Satyam), I'm told is good albeit overpriced.
The mallu place is called coolbiz - i used to have an account with them :)
The coolbiz is still there - the malloos are gone.

it's one of those places set up by an expat who married a local. not enough of those in madras, i think. certain quaintness abt it.
Ah, one of those. Mysore's an unlikely place, though...
actually, it's the perfect place.
quiet place, hardly stirs (though the opening of a couple of pubs may change that)... the whole city is about as big as adyar, and an influx of firangs to keep the registers ringing
